Cleary Wins at Platteview (12-16-11)

Louisville’s Pat Cleary won the 195 pound title at the Platteview Invitational, leading the Lions to a seventh place finish. Blair won their second consecutive team championship, nipping Nebraska City 158-156.

Cleary earned decisions over Plattsmouth’s Mike Leger, 9-4, and Clayton Radke of Nebraska City, by a convincing 10-3, en route to his first career invite championship.

Other medalists for the Lions included a third place finish by Colby Smith at 160 pounds, posting three pins after losing a hard fought 4-0 decision to Michael Nutsch of Beatrice in the opening round. Tucker Sjogren (152) and Tyler Shumaker (220) each took home fourth place medals.

After the holiday break, the Lions return to Platteview, joining with Fort Calhoun for the annual triangular on January 5 at 6:00.
