Lions Finish 4th (1-21-12)

The Louisville Lions wrestling team finished in fourth place at the 16 team Louisville Invitational.

Seven Lions medaled at the annual hometown invite, four of those for third place showings against difficult competition.

Colby Smith went 4-1 for the day with his only loss coming at the hands of Drake Fanslau of Underwood, top-ranked at 160 pounds in Iowa’s Class 1-A.

Seeded seventh in the tournament, Louisville’s Sam Glasshoff placed third with a 3-2 record, his only losses being to Dakota Holcomb of Underwood, ranked fifth in Iowa, and Nebraska’s top-ranked Ryan Musil of Wilber-Clatonia.

Pat Cleary claimed a third-place medal, losing to top-ranked TJ Standerford of H-TR-S/PC and Evan Schnack of Underwood while Tyler Shumaker earned a bronze medal, going 3-2 at 195 pounds.

Fourth place medals were earned by freshman Wade Knott, who pinned three opponents in pool play, Steihl Reeves, 4-1 during the tournament, and John Leversee, who registered four pins.

Underwood, Iowa’s top-ranked 1-A team, won five individual titles to easily repeat as Louisville Invitational champions, defeating Maple Valley & Ashton-Oto by over 100 points.

Next up for the Lions will be at Douglas County West on Saturday with action set to begin at 9:00 a.m.

Steihl Reeves defeated Andy Berry of Maple Valley & Anthon-Oto, 7-4, en route to a fourth place medal at the Louisville Invitational.

Louisville's John Leverseepinned Michael Reed of HTRS/PC to earn a fourth place medal at 182 pounds. Leversee improved his season record to 16-11.
