LHS Girls Tie for Third; Coughlin Wins (3-18-11)

The Louisville girls track team opened the 2011 campaign by finishing in a tie for third place at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Class C Indoor Invite. Louisville’s 42 points matched Southern Valley total, behind team champion Hastings St. Cecilia and Arapahoe.

The Lions were led by senior Kaitlin Coughlin, who won the triple jump with a leap of 32’ 10.5”, more than a foot better then the second place efforts of Alissa Brooks of Southern Valley.

Coughlin also recorded a pair of third place finishes in the 55 meter dash (8.01) and the 200 meters (:29.69) as well anchoring the 4x400 relay team (4:45.05) to a third place finish. Other members of the team were Taylor Zaracki, Megan Poland and Alex Jensen.

Junior distance specialist Sydney Stander was the other individual double scorer for LHS, placing third in the 3200 (13:16.5) and fourth in the 1600 in a time of 6:10.99.

The Louisville boys team finished in twelfth place in the 13 team field.

Paul Drelicharz’s fourth place in the 800 in a time of 2:23.32 led the Lions. A pair of freshmen, TJ Zaracki and Jack Winkler scored the remaining Louisville points, placing fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 3200.

The Lions travel to the newly refurbished track at Conestoga when the Cougars host LHS and Weeping Water in a triangular on Tuesday, March 22. Events are scheduled to begin at 2:00.
