LHS
Boys, Girls Place Seventh at Platteview
(3-31-11)
Both Louisville boys and girls track teams finished in
seventh place at the Platteview invitational which was won by the Mt.
Michael boys and Roncalli/Duchesne girls squads.
The Lions were paced by the second place finish of Paul Drelicharz in
the triple jump. The LHS senior jumped 37’ 10”, just behind
the gold medal showing of Nebraska City’s Dan Madsen. Another noteworthy
performance was Sterling Reeves’ third place showing in the 300
hurdles in :47.3, the best time by an LHS freshman in school history.
Another freshman, LeighAnn Novotny, was the top medalist for the Louisville
girls team, placing third in the high jump with a leap of 4’ 4”,
just ahead of classmate Sam Lane, who jumped the same height but placed
fourth due to more misses. Carlee Derby (long jump), Sydney Stander (triple
jump) Allyssa Terry (100 Hurdled) and the 4x800 relay team (Stander, Paige
Higginbotham, Tori Dean, Kristen Brandstrom) also placed fourth in their
respective events.
The Lions travel to Wilber-Clatonia High School for their invitational
on Friday at 2:00 p.m., a meet rescheduled from earlier this week due
to inclement weather.
