Louisville Girls Take 4th at ECNC (4-30-11)

Sophomore Shelby Hrabik defended her discus title and the 4x400 relay team earned gold, leading the Louisville High School girls track team to a fourth place finish at the East Central Nebraska Conference. Yutan won the meet for the fourth consecutive year.

Hrabik, a surprise discus winner a year ago, entered the annual meet as the favorite and did not disappoint, throwing 107’ 9” in the prelims to easily defeat the league field. Hrabik later added a bronze medal with a career best 34’ 3.25 in the shot put.

The Lions harvested more gold when the quartet of Kristin Brandstrom, Sydney Stander, Raegan Holl and Kaitlin Coughlin comfortably won the 4x400 relay in a time of 4:25.3.

The Louisville boys team scored 18 points to place eighth behind conference champion Malcolm. The Lions’ freshmen class accounted for a majority of the Louisville boys, led by the three-medal showing of Sterling Reeves.

Reeves placed fourth in both the 110 meter hurdles as well as the 300 meter hurdles, then teamed with his brother, Steihl, along with fellow freshmen Tucker Sjogren and Skyler Deloske to place sixth in the 4x100 relay.

Distance runners Jack Winkler and TJ Zaracki, also freshmen, placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 3200 during the morning session then placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the afternoon running of the 1600.

The Lions return to the track on Friday morning at the Johnson County Central Invitational at Tecumseh. Field events are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
