Lions Compete at Shortened Triangular (3-22-11)

Louisville athletes performed well at the Conestoga Triangular, their first outdoor meet of the 2011 season, against Weeping Water and the host Cougars. The meet was shortened due to the threat of severe weather at the refurbished Conestoga track.

The LHS boys earned four first-place finishes in the nine completed events. Sam Long won the triple jump by over six feet with a leap of 40’ 3” while Jake Zyla won gold in the long jump with a 19’ effort, both career bests for the talented juniors. Senior shot putter Nick Reynolds was victorious with a toss of 38’ 2” before Jack Winkler outran the field in the 1600 in a time of 5:23.6.

Veteran Kaitlin Coughlin was a double-winner for the LHS girls crew, capturing first place in the 100 meters and the triple jump while Jamie Leversee earned her first career victory with a career-best 83’ 5” showing in the discus. The LHS 4x800 team bested the field, as well.

Wilber is the next stop for Louisville as the Lions take on the field at the Wilber-Clatonia Invite on Tuesday, March 29. Field events are scheduled to begin at 3:00.
