Seven Lions to State (5-13-10)
Dallas Lemmers and Avery Hopkins will lead a seven person contingent representing Louisville at next week’s Nebraska State Track and Field Championships at Omaha Burke. The senior duo were multiple winners at the District C-1 Meet at Yutan which saw the LHS boys and girls teams each finish fourth in the nine-team field.

Returning to state for the fourth consecutive year, Lemmers will take part in three state meet events after earning three gold medals, the first after teaming with Paul Drelicharz, Colton Dean and Daniel Studey to place first in the 4x800 relay (8:46.6) in the first track event for the boys on the Yutan oval. Later, Dallas easily won his specialties, remaining unbeaten in the 3200 in a time of 10:09.9 and then placing first in the 1600 in a career-best time of 4:38.6.

Hopkins won two events at Yutan, leaping a career-best 20’ 1.25” in the long jump to win by 1/2 inch before sprinting to the 100 meter title in a time of :11.1. Although nipped at the finish in the 200 for second place and an automatic bid, Hopkins’ time of :23.1 was one of the two fastest third place times and will be added to the field at the state meet. Avery will be taking part in his second straight state meet.

The NSAA also added Daniel Studey to the 3200 state field by virtue of his third place time at the C-1 District.

The Louisville girls squad will send two underclassmen to the 2010 state meet, each posting season-bests while earning tickets to the state meet. Sophomore Sydney Stander scored a second place finish in the 3200 (12:53.4) and freshman Carlee Derby placed second in the 800 in a time of 2:39.6.
