C4
Shuts Out JCC, 11-0 (8-25-11)
Cass County Central scored seven runs in the fourth inning to pull away
to an 11-0 victory over the home-standing Johnson County Central Thunderbirds
in a game held at the Tecumseh Complex.
The Crush had taken a 4-0 lead going into the fourth inning where Cass
County Central sent 11 batters to the plate to score seven runs on four
singles and three T-Bird errors. Junior outfielder Haley Johnson stroked
two singles in the final frame, driving in two of the seven runs that
put C4 over the number needed to shorten the game due to the mercy rule.
Senior hurler Heather Hauschild dominated in the circle, striking out
eight Johnson County Central batters in her three innings of work. Sophomore
Cody Meyer came in to pitch the final frame, allowing just one hit while
striking out one T-Bird.
“Malanie Gist did a good job of squaring up on the ball,”
said Crush coach Kim Hammer. “And Haley Johnson’s two line
drive hits in the last inning were big.”
Next action for the Crush is against Nebraska City in the first round
of the Syracuse Invite with the first pitch scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
