Bennington Rolls, Defeats Crush, 9-0 (9-20-11)

Bennington’s Liz Noble and Sydney Hames combined to pitch a no-hitter against the Cass County Central Crush, leading the Badgers to a 9-0 victory.

Noble pitched the first five innings, striking out 10 Crush batters with Hames entering the game for the final inning, striking out the side.

If that wasn’t enough, the duo also led the Bennington offense, joining Chelsey King at the top of the Badger line-up to go 8-for-12 at the plate while driving in five runs while scoring four times.

The potent Bennington squad, also ranked fifth in the over-all state rankings which includes Class A teams, scored four times in the second inning on two hits and two C4 errors. The Badgers shortened the game by plating five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Erynn Westfall’s two-out, two-RBI double was the big hit in the rally.

Offensively, the Crush managed just one base-runner in the game when Cody Meyer worked a third inning base-on-balls, advancing to second on a bunt by Addie Thomas. But Noble returned to form, striking out the next two batters to end any thought of a threat.

Cass County Central (10-8) travels to Falls City (13-8) to play a JV-Varsity double-header on Thursday. Games are scheduled to begin at 5:00.
