Errors
Doom Crush in Loss to Eagles
(9-1-11)
Arlington benefited from 10 Cass County Central errors to claim an 8-4
Parent’s Night victory over the Crush at Weeping Water’s Memorial
Field.
The Eagles scored four unearned runs on just two hits in the first two
innings while taking advantage of five Crush miscues.
Cass County Central’s offense overcame the errors by scoring twice
in each of the first two frames. Crush shortstop Lauren Stohlmann’s
two out, two RBI triple in the first inning and RBI singles by LeighAnn
Novotny and Heather Hauschild in the second knotted the score at 4-4.
But Arlington tacked on four more runs in the final three innings, only
one of which was earned, to steal the victory. The Crush attack went dormant
after their early success, adding just two more hits in the final five
innings while getting only one runner into scoring position.
Hauschild
was the hard-luck losing pitcher, giving up only one earned run while
striking out seven and walking one.
C4 will regroup for Saturday’s game against the Douglas County West
Falcons to be held at Ash Grove Field. The JV contest is set to begin
at 9:00 with the varsity contest to follow.
