Stander Medals at ECNC Meet (9-28-11)

Even though the Louisville High School boys cross country team failed to place anyone into medal contention at the East Central Nebraska Conference Meet, they placed strong enough as a team to finish third behind champion Malcolm and Yutan in the final team standings.

The highest individual finish for the LHS boys was Jeff Bishop, who ran the 5000 meters at Valley View Golf Course in a time of 21:18 good for 13th place. Other Louisville varsity runners and their time/finish were Chris Van Horn (21:55, 16), Lane Sladky (21:56, 17), Andrew Sjogren (22:36, 22) and Vince Smejkal (23:36 30) . Malcolm repeated as conference champion behind the effort of Kellen Willet who won his second individual title.

Louisville senior Sydney Stander earned her third career ECNC medal with a ninth place finish in a time of 18:07. Dani Gennaro placed 15th in a time of 19:35. East Butler’s Cassie Aerts, who won her third consecutive individual title, led the Tigers to the team championship.
