Beat Malcolm (12-8-11)
Louisville girls 65, Malcolm 48 The Louisville girls basketball team, behind the play of senior forward Natalie Minchow, defeated the visiting Malcolm Clippers, 65-48. Minchow scored nine of her career high 17 points in the second quarter when the Lions, who led by just four after the first period, mounted a 34-21 advantage at the intermission. Malcolm attempted a rally at the start of the third period, scoring on four of their first five possessions of the quarter, lowering Louisville’s lead to 34-28. But the Lions answered by outscoring the Clippers, 17-6, the rest of the quarter, taking a 51-34 lead into the final eight minutes. Louisville led by as many as 21 points in the fourth period before Kayla Locke connected on a pair of 3s late in the game to reduce the margin as the Lions settled for the 65-48 win. While Minchow was the only Lion in double-figure scoring, Sam Lane and Morgan Dittberner added nine apiece, Sydney Stander added eight points and sophomore LeighAnn Novotny came off the bench, scoring seven, all in the first half of play. “We responded when Malcolm made a couple of runs at us,” said Louisville head coach Wally Johnson. “We’ve played four games in eight days and our legs looked tired. Our style of play is taxing on the body.” The Lions have a week off before hosting Johnson County Central next Friday, December 16 with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m.

Clippers
Defeat Lions
(12-8-11) "I
was very proud of our effort tonight," said Louisville head coach
Colin Lansman. "It was a battle all night and I thought we fought
hard. Malcolm did a great job of finishing inside and some of their guards
stepped up and knocked down some big shots. It was a back-and-forth game
all night, and Malcolm made 13 free throws in the 4th to stretch the lead
and secure the win."
