Led
by Morgan RIecken’s 15 points, Ashland-Greenwood defeated Louisville,
63-36, in the Lions’ gymnasium.
The Bluejays started the game by outscoring LHS 11-2, later using
an 11-0 run in the second period to take a decisive 28-9 lead. A short
jumper and a breakaway basket by Louisville’s Carlee Derby ended
the streak before Ashland-Greenwood went on another run, a 7-0 spurt
to end the first half with a 35-13 lead.
The Jays shot 33% from the field in the first half on 11-of-33 shooting,
controlling the boards while limiting the Lions to just 6 field goals
on 25 attempts.
After the break, Ashland-Greenwood continued their domination, beginning
the second half of play with another 7-0 run, putting to rest any
thoughts of a Louisville comeback.
The Lions were led in scoring by Natalie Minchow and Morgan Dittberner
with seven points apiece.
Louisville returns to ECNC play, traveling to Palmyra on Friday for
a 6:15 game with the Panthers.
